Rebecca Baker is a Zürich-bred, London-based actor, writer, producer. A BIFA-qualifying film festival panelist, she is also co-founder of Cut + Roll Films, a film production company recently established alongside producer Alice Duke (Irresistible Studios) to create films that challenge views and spark debate.
As an actor, Rebecca recently starred in FLYING (Dir. Jack Stockley), a poignant exploration of grief across different stages of life, which she also helped distribute and promote. Additionally, she featured in HAMDARDI (Dir. Ashley Tabatabai), inspired by the 2017 travel ban and longlisted for Best Live Action Short Film at the 97th Academy Awards. Both films, with Rebecca’s involvement, were screened at the BFI during the 2024 London Film Festival. In 2023, she starred in a 9-month run of Layered Reality’s immersive show THE WAR OF THE WORLDS (Dir. Jack Pirie) as lead ‘Peggy’. Other acting credits include the National Theatre’s THE NETWORK (Dir. Ivo Van Hove), starring Bryan Cranston and Michelle Dockery, Secret Cinema’s ROMEO + JULIET (Dir. Fabian Riggall), Midnight Runners’ MOISHE (Dir. Maya Katherine), and more.
As a writer and producer, Rebecca has been developing dark comedy thriller miniseries DANCING THROUGH TIME, as well as a psychological thriller semi-autobiographical feature. Both projects draw from real-life experiences in the legal and mental healthcare system, aiming to raise awareness and funds for PTSD recovery. The feature’s short film adaptation DROWNING - a semi-finalist in the Sunday Shorts Film Festival Best Script competition - is in pre-production with award-winning director Reiff Gaskell, cinematographer Ola Mesmer, and Executive Producer Nicholas Pinnock. The film is being produced by Alice Duke with Cut + Roll Films in collaboration with Silver Milk Productions.
In 2019, Rebecca wrote, directed, produced and starred in DAWN OF THE TRANSMATON with Iconic British, an immersive show depicting a multi-planetary Al civilisation mourning humanity’s decline. She has since adapted the play into the feature film THE ZEN OF AI, currently in script development.
Alongside DROWNING, with Cut + Roll Films co-founder Alice Duke in collaboration with Thimble Films, she is co-producing SCRATCHING POST, written by BIFA-winning actor and writer Abigail Hardingham and directed by Oscar, BIFA and BAFTA longlisted director Louisa Connolly-Burnham - whose most recent film SISTER WIVES is currently streaming on Channel 4 - as well as THE FRONT SEAT with award-winning director Aella Jordan-Edge - whose most recent film TRUCKLOAD, starring Jodie Whittaker, is set for release summer 2025.
